WasteLinks Launches: A New Marketplace for UK Waste Services
WasteLinks is coming soon — the UK's first verification-first marketplace for waste management services. Here is what we built, the problem we are solving, and what is coming next.
WasteLinks Is Coming Soon: Transforming How the UK Buys and Sells Waste Services
Today marks a significant moment for the UK waste management industry. WasteLinks, the UK's first dedicated, verification-first marketplace for waste management services is coming soon.
Whether you are an Environment Agency-registered waste carrier looking to grow your customer base, or a homeowner, business, or contractor who needs reliable and licensed waste removal, WasteLinks was built for you.
The Problem We Set Out to Solve
The UK generates approximately 200 million tonnes of waste every year. Managing that waste requires a vast network of licensed carriers, specialist contractors, transfer stations, and permitted disposal sites. The Environment Agency maintains a register of more than 70,000 registered waste carriers in England alone.
Yet despite the enormous scale of this industry, the market suffers from a structural problem that has persisted for decades: there is no trusted, transparent way for customers to find and book verified waste carriers online.
The consequences are severe and wide-reaching.
Fly-tipping costs the UK over £392 million every year, according to Environment Agency data. A significant proportion of this is caused by unlicensed operators who undercut legitimate carriers on price and then illegally dump the waste they collect — exposing customers to criminal liability and costing councils and taxpayers hundreds of millions in clean-up costs.
Legitimate waste carriers lose revenue to cheaper, unverified competitors who are not paying for EA registration, insurance, or legal disposal routes. Compliant businesses are penalised for doing the right thing because customers cannot distinguish them from operators who are not.
Customers are unknowingly exposed to legal liability when they hire unregistered carriers. Under the duty of care provisions of the Environmental Protection Act 1990, a waste producer can be prosecuted if their waste is mishandled — even if they paid someone else to remove it, and even if they had no idea the carrier was unlicensed.
WasteLinks was built to break this cycle by creating a marketplace where compliance verification is mandatory, pricing is transparent, and every transaction generates an automatic duty-of-care record that protects the customer from day one.
What We Have Built
WasteLinks is a full transaction platform for the waste industry, not a directory, not a lead generation tool, but an end-to-end booking and payment system designed specifically for the way waste businesses operate.
For Waste Carriers and Contractors
Every vendor on WasteLinks is checked against the Environment Agency public waste carriers register and Companies House before their listing is activated, and their insurance and specialist-licence certificates are recorded on their profile. The verified compliance badge reflects those live register checks, not self-reported information.
Customers can generate instant price estimates based on your published rates, or request a formal quote for more complex jobs. Quotes are produced as branded PDFs directly from the platform. Bookings are confirmed with a single click, and payment is processed through Stripe at the point of confirmation.
Vendors receive instant notifications of new bookings and quote requests, manage all activity through a dedicated dashboard, and include access to a driver mobile app for field teams to manage assigned jobs, navigate to sites, update job status in real time, and capture proof of delivery — all at no additional cost.
Compliance documents: EA registrations, insurance certificates, specialist licences are stored centrally on the platform with automatic expiry reminders to prevent lapsed credentials.
For Customers
Postcode-based search surfaces verified carriers across every waste service category available in your area, with transparent pricing and compliance badges displayed before you book.
Payments are processed securely by Stripe. Booking confirmations, PDF receipts, and job tracking are issued automatically. Every booking generates a permanent, downloadable duty-of-care record stored in your account.
